Made it to Connecticut

It was a long day of travel: 3 flights for Jo Anne, 2 for me, a long drive to dinner and another long drive to the cabin. I kept wondering, with the government shutdown, if we would even be able to fly today and it did cause some flight delays. At first the flights were delayed about 40 min. We only had 20 minutes between landing and boarding the second flight so this was a concern but it turned out the second flight was on the same plane we were on so no problem. Then all of a sudden they said we could take off on time after all. However, the flight was full and it took people forever to board so we ended up taking off late anyway. The joys of flying.

After landing in Hartford, CT, we picked up our rental car and drove to Milford where we had reservations for dinner at the Founder’s House.

Everything on the menu sounded delicious so it was hard to choose.

We shared the crab cake appetizer. Potato crusted, lump crab meat with a zesty remoulade sauce.
Jo Anne had the warm fresh New England butter poached lobster on a brioche roll with house cut fries.
I had pan seared salmon with miso ginger glaze over a crispy coconut rice cake and roasted charred corn salsa.

The meal was absolutely delicious and a perfect ending to our day. It was another hour long drive to the cabin where we are staying for the next two nights. It’s like a tiny house with two queen beds, a small kitchen and dining area, with a very small bathroom.
There are over 40 tiny cabins here in the woods and it’s very quiet and peaceful. I will take some more photos of the area tomorrow when it’s light outside.

"Faith is the assurance of things hoped for" (Hebrews 11:1).

Faith is the solid ground on which we stand as we await the fulfillment of God's promises.

  1. Who gets the top bunk? Can’t wait to see the fall colors. You are both such adventurers. I’m not a giant fan of traveling alone.
